I joined journalism in the spring semester of the school year. I was excited about being a part of the Quill and being able to get the news out to people. During this semester I was taught how to edit videos for Instagram and youtube and I contributed to a few of the ones that are posted. I worked with Nora on the Parking PSA video and on a few of the Music Monday and Tuesday Tunes videos. I really enjoyed the process of editing videos because it was a great learning experience. The last thing I did for journalism class was my written feature story. I worked with Porter and we gathered information about Iam Music and wrote a story about it. When I started journalism class I really didn't know much about journalism. I thought it was important, especially in a democratic society where all opinions and stories should be told. But this class has given me clarity on how to find reliable sources and how to find unbiased information in more biased stories. I also learned how to write a story and keep my opinion out of it and when I bring an opinion into it how I can still give reliable non biased information. This class has helped me think about future marketing jobs and helped me gain skills for a job in business. A lot of jobs require a lot of persuasive writing skills and that was something I got some good practice with. This class also really taught me about the algorithms and patterns that consumers watch videos. And now when I make videos or in future jobs where I want to make videos I know the way to record it for best reactions and then just know the steps to make videos on social media and how to edit them.
